Hello OBST families,

It has been a long couple of weeks between the meet in Pensacola and the long evening meet in Fairhope on Thursday. I hope y'all got to relax a bit and celebrate all the forms of fathers in your life this past weekend!

1) I am very proud of the stroke technique and effort executed throughout the Fairhope meet! I am even more proud of those new to the sport who handled the beginning of the meet with a positive outlook. The first meet can be overwhelming! We looked very strong as a team and only a small amount of DQs amongst our 8&U breaststroke swimmers. (We will be spending special attention to detail on our two-hand touch strokes this week!) I would also like to acknowledge the pride I have in our families when good sportsmanship is apparent. It is so important to cheer on your teammates and congratulate your opponents! :)

Attached you will find the results from Fairhope. Additionally, results can be found taped to the back of the front desk doors of OBAC facing the pool deck. I will have ribbons from this meet in athlete mailboxes on Wednesday. 

2) We have 12 athletes attending the meet in Bay Minette tomorrow. A significantly smaller group, but it will be a great meet nonetheless. The pool is located at: 1300 Bradley Ave, Bay Minette, AL 36507 OBST has lanes 1-3 to warm-up in from 5:30-6 p.m. The meet will begin at 6:15 p.m. and should not run nearly as long as last Thursday. I have also attached the heat sheet for tomorrow evening should attending families wish to print their own copy. Otherwise, heat sheets will be for sale at the concession stand for $2. The concession stand will have pizza and other available. 

I do apologies as I failed to remind families last week, but please bring chairs and extra towels for Bay Minette. There are a couple of picnic tables, but no bleacher seating. 

If you are not swimming in tomorrow's meet, there is no practice as I will obviously not be present.  

3) Next, our home meet will take place on Tuesday, June 24th. I do expect ALL of our swimmers to attend this meet, but please mark your attendance by this Wednesday 6/18 by EOD. I will need to build out our meet in the software and distribute to visiting teams ahead of the weekend. 

We will need all hands on deck in terms of volunteers! I will need 12 parents available for timing. Our Aquatics Director, Jessica, will be running clerk of course, however, I would like another parent to assit her and learn that process as well. I am hoping to have two people run the console table... one of those being Thomas Lee perhaps? More on volunteer positions to follow. You will be allowed to sign up for these positions in SwimTopia. 

4) FYI: We do sell our traditional orange OBST shirt as well as the blue Got Grit? shirt at the front desk of OBAC if any parents or family members are wanting to represent. Our shortsleeve shirts are $12 and the longsleeve shirts are $18.

5) Lastly, if you are a USAS athlete, please mark your attendance for the last chance meet in Mobile on Saturday, 6/28 no later than 6/23 EOD , please.
