6/30 OBST Weekly Newsletter
Happy Monday, makos!
I am sure all are looking forward to this holiday weekend. It has been a fast paced couple of weeks and I know some R&R ahead of our summer championship meets will be beneficial. Please be smart and safe with celebrations!
Tomorrow, Tuesday 7/1, we have a swim meet in Gulf Shores. I believe the timeline will be similar to that of recent meets, however, the schedule and warm-up assignments have not been distributed yet. I would prepare to be at the Bodenhamer Rec Center for warm-up a few minutes before 4:30 p.m. I will keep you posted on concrete details.
Attached you will find entries. We will have 6 relays:
8&U 100 FR A - William Buck, Stella Dorland, Martha Kincaid, Penelope Key
8&U 100 FR B - Molly Vogel, Waylon Armstrong, Charlie Armstrong, Lennox Drummond
9-10 200 FR A - Daniel Parrish, Caroline Vogel, Sara Todd, Amelia Chiseev
11&O 200 FR A - Xander Beal, Sebastian Simion, Ally Midkiff, Caleb Hamilton
11&O 200 FR B - Lizzie Key, Isla Slay, Katy Joy Stephens, Katelyn Hamilton
11&O 200 FR C - Brooklyn Key, Julia Kirby, Natalie Kirby, Harper Morrison
*** Moving forward... please mark your attendance ASAP in SwimTopia for Jr Champs on July 12th (Bay Minette) and most importantly, the city championship meet July 18th and 19th (Fairhope)! ****
Also, you might have noticed on the calendar for Thursday, July 24th, we will be having our annual awards banquet at the Orange Beach Community Center from 6-8 p.m. This will be a semi-formal celebratory event with a potluck dinner, slideshow, music, awards, and team photography. Please make every effort to be present! All athletes will receive a trophy for 2025 and a certain few will be recognized for extra efforts.
As for the potluck dinner, I do hope to have a budget to cater this event in the future, but this year we will opt for a potluck. Please RSVP your swimmer and family in addition to signing up for a dish to bring. This can be found by clicking the event and going under "jobs". I am not sure if it will allow notes under the RSVP, but it would be beneficial to specify what you plan to bring so we don't accumulate too much of one item. I can also make an excel sheet for the potluck sign up if easier.
I will be requesting photo submissions from the past year from families. I think it would be best to create a separate drive or shared album of somesort to gather photos. Standyby for more details on that process, please!
My goal is to eventually have swimmers who are in their senior year conduct senior speeches along with photo submissions and a song for their snippet of the slideshow. So, keep that in mind incoming high school seniors!
The last important announcement I have is that registration for Fall (Aug 11 - Dec 12, 2025) will open on Monday, July 14th. Mark your calendar and set an alarm!
If you need me, you know where to find me.
Best,
Coach Dakota
