7/14 OBST Weekly Newsletter

Good Morning OBST,

I can't believe how fast it flew by, but we are entering the last two weeks of summer swim!  We have a number of important happenings occuring today and throughout the conclusion of the season, so please read below and stay in tune.

1. REGISTRATION IS OPEN TODAY!!!
If you haven't done so already, registration for Fall 2025 is open now! It is currently open to OB residents and returning athletes only. If you plan to swim in the Fall, I recommend registering sooner than later as there are limited spots. The system will not open to the public until next Monday, 7/21. If you have any questions regarding practice and meet schedule, you may find all of that information on SwimTopia as well as the Sportsman Web activity homepage. Register Now: https://orangebeach.activityreg.com/

* Remember, if you are a returning athlete that lives outside of OB, you will have to either call the OBAC front desk or register in person. If you have any trouble, please refer to the previously sent documents providing instruction on registration.

2. GCAAL City Championship is this weekend (7/18-7/19)!
The meet will be conducted in THREE sessions: Sessions I and II will be held on Friday, July 18th. Sessions III and IV will be combined on Saturday, July 19th. Sessions I (morning sessions) will include swimmers ages 10 years and younger. Sessions II (afternoon sessions) will include swimmers 11 to 18 years old. Session IV will be included in Session III on Saturday morning. Warm ups for all sessions will be divided into two or three 30-minute periods. The morning warm ups (Sessions I and III) will begin at 7:45 a.m. Competition will begin at 9:00 a.m. The afternoon warm ups (Sessions II) will begin about 12:00 noon. Competition will begin no earlier than 1:00 p.m. GCAAL will inform us of our designated warm-up window and lanes by Wed. Please mark your swimmers attendance in SwimTopia no later than noon tomorrow, Tuesday 7/15!

Awards for 6 & Under swimmers will be held immediately prior to the beginning of Session II on Friday, July 18. An awards ceremony for all remaining age groups will be held at about 2:30 p.m. – depending on any rain delays – on Saturday, July 19 in the pool area.

There have been some discrepancies within the league regarding the fee process for the championship meet. I believe the cost to swim will be $5/athlete and $2/event, however, I am putting fees on hold until further confirmation from the league's president.

3. Results from this past Saturday's Junior Champs
Attached are the PDF results from Junior Champs in Bay Minette. I am to have ribbons/medals in hand from the hosting team this weekend. I did finally receive ribbons from the Bay Minette meet in early July. Please have your swimmers check their athlete mailboxes.

A special shoutout to the Key and Todd families for volunteering their time and energy at the meet. Your efforts are much appreciated! :)

4. Awards Banquet and Pot Luck Sign Up
I tried to make it simple with RSVPs in SwimTopia for this event, but that method doesn't let you customize who is attending. The entire family is invited! Please click this link to access the google doc sign up sheet and mark your family's attendance, number in party, and then choose an item to bring to the pot luck. Everyone should bring at least one item. If you have multiple swimmers on the team, an item per swimmer would be appreciated. I anticipate about 130 people or so.

I believe that covers everything for now! We are expecting weather this weekend... so remain engaged in case things end up being rescheduled.

Thanks team!

Best,

Coach Dakota
