Hi OBST families,

Happy June; Summer is officially in full-swing! 

We are about to wrap up week two of swim practice this season and I am happy to report that everyone appears to have adjusted to their schedule and transitions well. 

There are a handful of folks who do not yet have their appropriate gear. If you visit the "Programs" tab on the SwimTopia homepage, you can scroll the drop-down menu to the "Equipment" page to read what is required per group. Please make every effort to have your swimmer's prepared for practice... one doesn't attend soccer practice without shin guards and cleats!

Agon Sport has informed me that our team order is in the sewing phase. All fabric has been dyed/printed and should completed and shipped out within the next two weeks.

If you have not yet done so, PLEASE log into SwimTopia and confirm which meets your swimmer this summer. To mark your athlete's meet commitments, you will visit SwimTopia and navigate to the "Calendar" tab, then click on "Competition & Events". You will then scroll to the meet(s) and mark your child accordingly as either attending or not attending. If you do not confirm attendance during the open entry window, we will assume your athlete is NOT participating in the said competition.

For those swimming in GPAC's Tom Lalor Invitational this weekend, please see all event information and warm-up details under the important dates section below. 

In other news, we did have to move our Award Banquet date from Friday, July 31st to Monday, July 27th. The annual Summer Send-Off that the City hosts will take place on that Friday, so we didn't want ot create a schedule conflict.

6/5-6/7 GPAC Tom Lalor Invitational
The meet dashboard on GPAC's website has been updated with the heat sheet and warm-up assignments for the weekend. The heat sheet is also attached if you wish to print directly.

Warm-Up Assignments:
FRI (13&O) 7:40-8:20a in Lane 8

FRI (12&U) 10:30-11:00a in Lane 1
SAT (13&O) 7:00-7:40a in Lane 1
SAT (12&U) 1:00-1:30p in Lane 4
SUN (13&O) 7:00-7:40a in Lane 1
SUN (12&U) 2:30-2:55p in Lane 4

GPAC will run a 7-lane course, and lane 8 will be for continuous warmup/warm down. Please help remind your swimmers to enter from the turn end of the pool (locker room side).

PER FACILITY RULES: NO FOOD or personal chairs are allowed in the facility--this includes stadium seats. Deck locker rooms will be made available to non-athletes and spectators if the HLS building is not open. Meet marshals will be monitoring the locker rooms.

6/10 CAT5 Entry Fees Due by Noon
All athletes competing in CAT5 LC Open need to have their entry fees paid in full no later than noon on Wednesday, June 10th! You may either pay online through your Sportsman Web account (www.orangebeach.activityreg.com), over the phone, or in person at the OBAC front desk. (Note that CC payments will include a convenience fee.)

6/13-6/14 CAT5 Aquatics Long Course Open
As of now, we have 10 athletes competing in PCB next weekend. I will send out the meet timeline, heat sheet, etc. once received from the hosting team.

6/18 CCM Rec Meet
This will be our first rec-level competition under the Mobile Country Aquatic League (MCAL)! I really want to see all of our athletes, especially those new to the sport and competition environment, attend these meets to gain expereince and grow their confidence. 

Please confirm attendance by Friday, June 12th. Meet info and heat sheet to come closer to date.

MAKO OF THE MONTH
Congratulations to June's Mako of the Month, Natalie Hastik!

Natalie or "Nat-Attack" has demonstrated serious discipline and determination in her training as we closed our short course season. She continues to display great work ethic and lead her teammates by example. After some time of remaining stagnant in the pool, Natalie has never lost sight of her goals. Her training is finally paying off as reaches closer and closer to higher-level time standards. Go get'em Nat-Attack!
